FXI, a sleep and comfort solutions manufacturer, joined St. Thomas Aquinas School (STA) students in creating beautiful mosaics that will reside in Peace Rooms throughout the school network.
On September 12, 2024, eighty members of FXI’s senior leadership team (SLT) converged in Philadelphia and embarked on a Day of Service with Independence Mission Schools (IMS). Led by FXI Vice President of Sales Bryan Tischer, a group of FXI SLT members worked with our Grade 8 students to paint tiles that were later assembled into mosaic portraits.
STA plans to create a Peace Room for its students. “We want a safe and neutral space in our building for students to work through difficult emotions and challenging situations. The space will also be used to promote student wellness,” according to Principal McCloskey. STA has a dedicated professional counselor and Family Connection Liason who can help students navigate Social Emotional Learning. This planned Peace Room will have a friendly, welcoming environment that can help students find calm, to open up and focus on mindfulness.
Besides having the mosaic workshop, FXI also donated gift cards and materials such as rugs, a SMART Board, yoga mats and so much more to get the Peace Room set up started. The STA community is grateful to FXI for their support of its mission to provide a transformative education that not only develops students academically but also improves students’ emotional and spiritual well-being.
